OUR PHILANTHROPIC CONCEPT

L’Effet Papillon is a caterer with a philanthropic vocation. We use part of our profits to finance nutritional help and access to drinking water projects to help people in need in Switzerland and internationally.

Each year we offer our clients 3 projects and they decide which one they wish to support through their event. These projects are renewed annually.

Here are the 3 projects we are currently supporting:

Analamanga, Madagascar

Goal: Improving food security through rural autonomy training for small farmers

Since 1998, the Swiss organization Aqua Alimenta has been committed to improving the food security of small-scale farming families in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Madagascar and India through agroecological growing methods and irrigation techniques.

In the Analamanga region of Madagascar, Aqua Alimenta collaborates with the organization Ecovillage Madagascar to improve the quality of life and the autonomy of small farmer families through agroecology training centers (CEDAR).

The first phase of the project made it possible to establish 4 CEDARs and the second phase plans to open 6 other CEDARs by 2025. In total, 1,200 small farmers and children from 20 schools are participating in these training courses.

The objective of the project is to improve food security, strengthen resilience to environmental risks and reduce dependence on external inputs. The project aims to connect 80% of participants to sales markets and supports the creation of savings groups.

Tobang, Nepal

Goal: ensure clean, quality water thanks to rainwater capture tanks in Nepal

The International Rainwater Management Alliance (IRHA) is a Swiss NGO based in Geneva since 2002. IRHA’s mandate is to promote rainwater as a sustainable solution to water shortages and natural disasters that weaken ecosystems and communities.

At the top of the Tobang mountains, communities suffer from a severe lack of access to water and good hygiene practices. The dispersion of households into small groups of houses and the steepness of the terrain make it difficult to set up larger supply systems. Households are dependent on sources located 50-100m downstream; fetching water is a daily chore, time-consuming and physically heavy.

Individual rainwater collection tanks improve water availability at household level for washing, drinking and cooking. Made of ferrocement, an 8000 liter tank costs 800chf and can last more than 20 years.
